    Geotechnical Engineers - Project and Entry Level. American Geotechnical & Environmental Services (A.G.E.S.), Inc. provides professional geotechnical services for public and private clients throughout PA, NJ, MD, DE, DC, VA and WV. Founded in 1995 A.G.E.S., Inc. has grown to be the largest specialty geotechnical consultant in Northeastern US. We have been involved in the design of infrastructure projects with construction costs of over $10+ billion in the last 24 years. A.G.E.S., Inc. has the following opportunity available in our Pittsburgh headquarters and King of Prussia branch office:

    Project Level Geotechnical Engineer: This intermediate engineering position is for the individual who takes an increasingly responsible role in the management of projects. The employee independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on moderately complex projects. Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work. Works closely with senior-level Project Managers to gain project management experience. Makes design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications. Performs calculations using engineering formulas and skills. Completes own design work using computer-aided techniques. Prepares reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects. Assists geologists in geotechnical field reconnaissance and inspection of exploratory drilling operations. Serves as a technical advisor to junior-level project team members. 6 plus years experience, excellent writing, analytical, communication, and computer skills. Professional Engineer preferred. Department of Transportation experience and experience with current design codes such as AASHTO and FHWA manuals a plus. B.S. in Civil Engineering. M.S. in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering with a concentration in geotechnical engineering evidenced by a minimum of 24 semester hours of geotechnical related courses a plus. Must be proficient using software programs such as LPile GRLweap, DRIVEN, SLIDE, Goldnail/SNAP, STABL, gINT, and Geosystem.

    Staff Level Geotechnical Engineer: This is an entry level engineering position. The successful candidate will work in applying geotechnical engineering techniques, procedures, and principles on a variety of civil engineering infrastructure projects. Must have solid understanding of soil mechanics, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, earth structures, earth pressures, instrumentation, construction monitoring, and soils laboratory testing. Some fieldwork required. B.S. in Civil Engineering. M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering a plus. Position requires registration as an Engineer-in-Training, or ability to obtain an E.I.T. within 18 months of hire. Knowledge of commonly used computer software (Word, Excel) expected. Candidate must have excellent writing and communication skills.
