Every time it rains, trash and debris from Pittsburgh, Edgewood, Wilkinsburg, & Swissvale washes into Nine Mile Run. Help clean up the stream and make it a healthier habitat for all!

Upstream Pittsburgh will provide gloves, safety vests, and trash bags. Trash grabbers will also be provided. They suggest wearing long pants & sturdy boots or closed-toe shoes. If you’d like to venture into Nine Mile Run, Upstream Pittsburgh has a limited supply of chest-height waders. If you have tall rain boots, hip boots, or waders, please bring them so they can provide to those who do not have waders. Participants should expect to get muddy and possibly wet, so please plan your attire accordingly.

Please note: While Upstream Pittsburgh loves furry friends, they kindly ask that you do not bring your pets along with you to this event.

This event is free, but donations for Upstream Pittsburgh are appreciated and help them hold events like this. Snacks, coffee, and water will be provided!
