Upcoming event information:
National Engineer's Week MAKE-UP DAY at the Carnegie Science Center
Carnegie Science Center, One Allegheny Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
Date: FRIDAY, 10-APR-2015, 9:00 AM - 3 PM
Volunteers are needed FRIDAY, April 10th!
The events scheduled for Friday (20-FEB) of E-Week at the Science Center were canceled due to the snow storm. They have now scheduled a make-up dayfor the school groups/field trips. That day is FRIDAY, APRIL 10th.
The snow has melted and we need your help again! ASCE Pittsburgh Section is once again hosting our Civil Engineering Display at the Carnegie Science Centers for their MAKE-UP DAY for E-Week festivities. This is a great opportunity for us to provide insight into our profession to the future students of engineering. Please take a few hours and help ASCE show these school age children why we practice Civil Engineering.

Jason McBride, P.E. demonstrating how storm water runoff can cause pollution in our rivers.

When: Friday, April 10, 2015 (2 or 4 hour time slots)
Where: Carnegie Science Center, North Shore (next to Heinz Field)
Why: To bring the knowledge and experience to show kids K-12 the numerous opportunities our profession can offer. (Who knows, you may be inspiring a future employee.)
Volunteers will demonstrate a variety of Civil Engineering principle using hands-on displays and models of real-life civil engineering challenges. Also, we will be answering questions and providing information to schools and other community organizations. We would like to have 3 to 4 people per time slot.
Previous experience is not necessary, so come on down. You may learn something new, too.
College Students this is an excellent networking opportunity! And don’t forget your free T-Shirt!!!!!

VOLUNTEER EVENT STAFFING INFORMATION
Friday, April 10, 2015 (9 am - 3 pm)
In order to fully promote science and engineering to visitors, all event tables must be staffed by volunteers during event hours.
Please ask volunteers that attended in February to wear their 2015 Engineer the Future shirt as we only have a limited supply remaining. Volunteers generally work a 3-4 hour shift. All volunteers are to report to the Registration Area before their shift to register and receive their National Engineers Week T-shirt (while supplies last).
Parking Information:
Parking is FREE for all Engineer the Future volunteers. Carnegie Science Center has recently installed a new parking system. Please follow the directions below to receive free parking in CSC lots:
1. Pull an entry ticket upon entering the parking lot.
2. Pick up a “chaser” parking ticket when you sign-in at the Engineer the Future registration table.
3. Insert your entry ticket, then your “chaser ticket” into the exit gate when leaving.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
