Please join us at the Engineer’s Society of Western Pennsylvania on Saturday, February 18, 2012 for the E-Week Annual Awards Banquet with keynote speaker Renee Piechocki, director of Pittsburgh’s Office of Public Art. Ms. Piechocki will give a presentation on public art projects that were created by artists in collaboration with engineers and other design professionals. In addition, she will discuss how these professionals can build relationships and foster great civic designs.

Keynote Speaker
Renee Piechocki is an artist and public art consultant. She is the founding director of Pittsburgh’s Office of Public Art, a partnership of the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council and the Department of City Planning, which provides technical assistance and educational programs to the public and private sectors in Pittsburgh. She has worked on a diverse range of public art management and policy projects including the Anne Katharine Seamans Memorial at the Walled Garden in Mellon Park; the Market Street lighting project in Downtown, the pedestrian bridge connects Shadyside and East Liberty at the intersection of Ellsworth Avenue and Spahr Street, the conservation and relocation of the Romare Bearden mural in the Gateway Center T Station, and the creation of a gift and deaccessioning policy for the Pittsburgh International Airport.
Her public art publications include “Beyond the Ribbon Cutting: Education and Programming Strategies for Public Art Projects and Programs” in Public Art by the Book, edited by Barbara Goldstein; the Pittsburgh Art in Public Places: Downtown Walking Tour; and the Pittsburgh Art in Public Places: Oakland Walking Tour.
Renee Piechocki was born in Queens, New York and grew up in Long Island. She received her BA in Studio Art and Honors Program from Hunter College of the City University of New York.
