Nearly 60 years ago, Mackin Engineering Company was founded by Italo “Ody” Mackin, a forefather in the civil engineering field. From a small dedicated team of engineers and surveyors, Mackin grew into the multidisciplinary team that it is today. A great deal of growth and change has occurred in six decades, but one thing that remains a constant is our comprehensive and efficient service, which is crucial to successful projects. Mackin is passionate about its core values of integrity, quality and excellence, and we are committed to providing clients with innovative solutions that address their needs and surpass their expectations.

A recap of Mackin’s recent changes include relocation of our Pittsburgh office in conjunction with a company rebrand, and the announcement of our Leadership Succession Plan, which includes our President’s retirement and the future retirement plans of our CEO.

Our Pittsburgh office is now located at 103 Technology Drive, Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15275. The updated space provides an open layout encouraging teamwork, innovation and creativity. We pride ourselves on the accessibility of our company leaders, who occupy spaces throughout the office. Feel free to stop by for a visit.

As a part of our re-brand, the new Mackin logo is a representation of the company moving into the future and the exciting and broad opportunities that lie ahead.

As we look ahead, we wish to thank one of our most dedicated and long-tenured colleagues, our President, Thomas E. Riester, PE, who will retire on January 9th, 2020. Tom has dedicated his 46-year career to Mackin and has served as a company leader and industry expert. His knowledge and experience have guided and supported our company and our people, preparing our next generation of leaders. We are thankful for his service and dedication to Mackin and all his contributions and wish him the best in his retirement.

Following Tom’s retirement, Steve Janosko, PE, will assume the role of President. Steve has been with Mackin for over 30 years, working his way up through the Highway Engineering department to his current role as Vice President of Transportation. Steve is eager and well-prepared to take on his new role as President.

    A look ahead…

Dean I. Mackin, CEO, will begin his retirement in 2022. Dean has dedicated himself to leading the company for the last 11 years. Dean prides himself on continuing the legacy that his father began and leading with faith and integrity.

Zach Olawski, Vice President of Strategic Planning, will take on Dean’s role as CEO in 2022. As part of the succession plan, and under his stepfather’s guidance, Zach is taking full advantage of this time to learn the intricacies of the company and build on his 11 years of experience with Mackin. He looks forward to carrying on the rich family history of Mackin and bringing the perspective of a new generation of engineers and professionals.

We look ahead to the growth and challenges that await us. We thank each of our clients for their continued support and look forward to serving you all in 2020 and beyond.
